A Time To Shine
TANSWORLD - A Time To Shine

We waited a long time for the Transworld-video. I personally watched the video twice and that about says it all. Seldom I watched a video twice, at all. It starts off with team rider Cooper Wilt who has an astonishing part. Like he says himself his style of skating can´t be categorized but only riding whatever comes in his way. In this way there are incredible trick combinations and spot variations that w
ould be nice to be visibly over here, as well. You only have to keep your eyes open and think creatively. Chris Roberts´ part ain´t that bad but is quite loaded with varial flips and manuals that were mainly filmed in Barcelona, too. Ronson Lambert seems to be the next amateur on Plan B concerning his clothes, anyway. Besides that did anyone ever do a Bigspin vs Bluntslide Kickflip off ? Whoops, told on ´em, too bad. But you should have seen it in motion, anyways since this trick is just waaay to fat. From Chad Timtim we didn´t get to see to much in the past time but this may be just because of him filming and collecting stuff for this video. This man does in any case the most longest sw crooked grinds in the business. After Chads Part it really starts happening with Paul Rodriguez, Jereme Rogers and Mike Taylor. The three of them cover just about everything that can be done in the means of modern street tricks and all looking so easy it nearly hurts. They are most definitely the next generation of Kostons and Carrolls and do it just the way it´s supposed to be looking. True perfection including first-evers like Pauls sw Flip bs Tailslide Flip out, as well, of course. Dylan Rieder has the last part and not only has the hottest girlfriend but also unbelievable skills on the skateboard. No matter it being a ditch, a skate park, stairs or rails Dylan can ride all of these spots and is having an unique style by doing so. And besides Ed Templeton he also does the best Impossibles like you´ve seen in our Magazine, before. Certainly there are several bonus features like a tree chopping action that takes place in a skate park in Australia. Very funny, indeed! So like every TWS skate video "A Time To Shine" absolutely is the bomb and therefore a must-see!

Get Tricks Or Die Tryin

A new Digital video! 5 Skater, 5 outstanding parts! Digital is known for their most hardest and well cut video productions. Dennis Martin and William Weiss filming and editing provided excellent work. Jani Laitala in the first part ripps about everything he can find in San José and delivers styliest lines some nice ones from Barcelona and from other places within the states, too. Bjorn Johnston lately pacing on Nikes, exclusively has in my opinion an average part, only but is not to be underestimated in any case. Hard, harder, Jordan Hoffart. After a hard bail from about 2 meters he gets up again in order to complete his trick, of course. In New Zealand some spots just are a little rougher but he doesn´t care. Maybe a part a little too short but an innovative part, after all with a beautiful pole trick. Darkstar´s Gailea Momulu with the murder pop. From Canada here come the fast flip tricks no matter if on the handrail or down the gaps. Flipping ´n rippin´ all day long. An absolutely outstanding part that Aaron Snyder fights off. I haven´t seen such a big variety of tricks from a skater, lately. Who thought primos can be handled that easily!? In between the parts there are small video cuts that are featured by a lot of friends and even more well-known. Including Rodrigo TX, Antwuan Dixon, Mark Appleyard, Ryan Gallant, Paul Machnau, Carlos de Andreade, Ted Degros and more. In a nutshell: Setting new standards! Half an hour of absolute bangers fittingly cut to the music. Beware! Keep the board within reach. You´ll have to go skate!

FourstarSuperChampion
FOURSTAR - Super Champion Funzone

Here it is! The first official Fourstar Skate-DVD. This CD is never gonna leave my DVD player, anymore. I proposing bought a second one. Many watch the hardest stunts before they go out skating to make themselves horny but I am "unfortunately" off that age. I can´t go so fast and so hard anymore that´s why I have to keep it quietly flowing. Too bad right now is not my time to skate because it is way too cold for my elder bones. I would prefer hanging in Tokyo for two weeks having fun with my buddies. That´s what the men from Fourstar had a lot of. But considering this constellation that´s no miracle; Howard, Anderson, Carroll, Ladd, Schaaf, Koston and "Crazy" Gonzales. Last one mentioned quite obviously stands for the word "entertainment". I never got the chance to meet this man live but watching this video I get a clue about several things. Gonzales seems to be on fire 24 hours a day, 7 days a week constantly having the aim to entertain his environment. Be it with strange bicycle skills any kind of stunts or actually with his skateboard. Not less entertaining it is to watch Koston. No one let´s skateboarding look so easy and naturally like Mr. Frosten. He can simply ride anything existing. Ever tried to ride an 80-degree bank nearly in "Hang Ten" standing in the middle of the board upwards ? Nah ? Me neither. Brian Anderson simply is the style god. Actually he has so many tricks coming he rides a demo alone like that because his team colleagues stick in a traffic jam. Not from nothing he is "World Champion", twice. Not in the east, either. Carroll doesn´t let himself to be beaten in s.k.a.t.e. and is the celebrated star of the Japanese. PJ though compromises himself a little bit but with his lines and his loose style he is a sure for good skating. Max Schaaf is part of it from the very beginnings and proves all his routine while touring. Nothing sets him off the roll not even Gonzales. The Father of the Team Rick Howard keeps the whole team together and is available for any joking. I don´t know of any other team that would have put together such a good tour video in two weeks. Now the only thing left for me to say is that it is nearly 45 minutes long and contains 5 bonus parts that run for another 30-40 minutes. Using the words of the japanese tour guide I want to give a statement here and come to an end: Enjoy life.

Reason to Believe - DVD

"Reason to believe" is a video from the house of Jamie Thomas so you can be sure the filming is first choice. After all it was Jamie who understood how to use a fisheye on his camera to the fullest to make skating look more dynamic. But if you take a look on the tele shots neither Jamie nor any of his filming colleagues have to hide. In "Reason to believe" it´s all about making a video about Jamie's buddies from the old home of Alabama who all know how to skate very well. It´s funny but if Jamie hadn´t gone to California he could be another more or less well-known skater out in the middle of nowhere, still. The same goes for Pat Rakestraw and Ben Gilley who both have a part, as well. But it starts with Justin Holmes, first who should better have gone to Cali, too. The boy grinds about every rail that gets in his way and looking good! We pretty well know this from Ben Gilley, already but the Kink-Rail that he grinds at the end of his part just is too gnarly you wouldn´t believe it. Who ever´s seen the picture in Thrasher knows what I´m talking about. Also the rest of Ben´s part is nice to look at and Jamie signing him with Zero after being kicked out of Blacklabel is understandable. Pat Rakestraw still rides for Label and the part is just another prove of: this man has pop! Actually his lines are very creative and are a good alternation to all that rail crashing. After some other homies of Jamie get to get to their point the chief himself has a part that´s outstanding, certainly. I would assume that the complete footage maybe all the leftover stuff from the last Zero video but leftovers from Jamie are definitely yummy. In summary "Reason to believe" is one of the first DVD´s since a long period of time that was sold out after a few weeks and that has to mean something!

Almost - Cheese & Crackers

With Cheese&Crackers Almost once again releases a DVD that definitely should not be excluded from any collection. It is so to say already a classic because it differentiates itself from the usual skate videos in the business in one point: It´s all about miniramp skating! Therefore Deawon Song and Chris Headsman locked themselves into a warehouse for three months with a pretty steep miniramp and show what they can do. And that´s quite something! Sometimes you just don´t know whether you should laugh or cry that´s how crazy the things are they do. On the one hand all the liptricks that are somehow possible are shown and on the other hand the two built various additional obstacles inside or next to the ramp so for the creative trick development there is no limit. Wow, what an explanation but it certainly hits the nail on the head. To count down any tricks here now is senseless because you really should have seen it with your own eyes! Of course there is a bonus section, too in which you can find the only "real" street part with the new Almost-amateur Lewis Marnell. Also you can see the stunning "tankwheel-dirtboard" action of Cooper Wilt and Haslam and that´s not too bad. Is cross skating the new trend from now on? Well, not seriously but it´s inspiring to try it yourself. The friends section gets to take place on a miniramp, as well and primarily shows friend cameramen and photographers but be aware also Mike Carroll has a few lines that are a nice thing to look at! You HAVE to watch or own Cheese&Crackers because the short but perfect video is a classic already!

Krooked Chronicles

I don´t have to tell anybody who knows something about skateboarding that Mark Gonzales maker and owner of the company Krooked is kind of a crazy dog. I personally maintained the opinion that he´s not quite clear in the head and should be put into a closed institute. The funny thing is actually that I said that about 15 years ago when he was sliding the Santa Monica double kink rail. Those days more in terms of his skating. Today this is more because of his "what kind so ever" crazy actions and that´s why I was even more awaiting the first video of his company and especially interested in his part. Would it be consisting of BMX? Or would he maybe just be running down the street? OK, some strange film skit actually really guides you throughout the whole video but other than that Marc held himself back and produced a very good skate video. And even with a part of himself absolutely worth seeing. Including real tricks and stuff which is not necessarily normal. An absolutely honorable last part. But Van Wastell has got the first one and in spite of having a strange christian name is capable of transferring technical tricks onto rails. Dan Drehobel always was one of my favorites and besides him always skating with a cigarette he´s got some tranny tricks going. Bobby Worrest comes from the East Coast but more likely has the style of a technical Californian. More curb tech than pole jam but blessed with an unique style. Because of the company only having four team rider which I personaly think is good the guest pros that are existing at Krooked receive a thick part, as well and here you can see just about everyone with a rank and a name. Starting from Guy Mariano to Jake Brown, from Chad Muska to Christian Hosoi all have some tricks on the bonus DVD that comes with this more than stylish package. So that´s two DVD´s plus Gonz Booklet. You can´t get more than that for your money. Especially not really good skateboarding.

enjoi Bag of suck video
Enjoi - Bag of suck

Finally here it is! "Bag of suck" a crappy video from enjoi. The video opens up with Caswell Berry who comes up with some thick bangers and beautiful lines jumping gaps that make your jaw feel heavy. Afterwards Jason Adams who transferred from Black Label being his board sponsor to enjoi rides oldschool like and takes with him about every transition that even closely looks like one. The next part is like a sunday skatepark session that shows how harmonically the whole team skates together. Nearly as if you were in the park, yourself. The video continues with Jose Rojo who nearly recuperated from his car injury from last october. For this video he collected many perfect tricks within the shortest amount of time. With his smooth style he even makes the hard tricks look easy. In the friends part there are all kind of friends to be seen like former enjoi-pro Marc Johnson as well as Haslam, Melcher, Cannon and more of the Tilt Mode Army. Even Bobby Puleo who left enjoi a few months ago shows up. Clark Hassler´s part definitely is not to be missing, either. Hassler from whom we didn´t get to see too much up to now here definitely proves his ability. The part before the last part is the most craziest: Louie Barletta without consideration of losses and full throttle, all the time. Guaranteed craziness! At the end Jerry Hsu shows everybody that the hardest tricks can look so easy. A long astonishing part. The bonus section includes several goodies like out takes and footage leftovers as well as a small part of the amateurs Nestor Judkins, Jon Choi, Jon Nguyen and Jerrod Saba that´s really worth watching. The music is a little slow but always suits. In a nutshell: The DVD is like medicine that can be taken several times daily. Side effects are amongst others twinkling toes and the need to instantly jump on the board and go outside. A unique video that everybody should have watched and that brings talk for the next months.

ZERO - New Blood

The fourth video evolving from Zero “New Blood” is of course the absolute bash. Whoever likes hard tricks on hard rails has to own this video. The team got a lot of new riders like Garrett Hill, James Brockman and Tommy Sandoval joined. The old drivers like Jamie Thomas, Chris Cole and Rest of the bunch are featured as well, of course. As a preview you get a Mystery trailer that really has got it! Zero or die!

FLIP - really sorry.
FLIP - really sorry.

We can already say at this stage that the DVD is even harder, even more perfect, better. A complete new video arose and every driver has a completely new part. Also P.J. Ladd. Only Alex Chalmers and Rune Glifberg didn´t get new parts but this can easily be excused regarding all the other parts.
Of course the DVD also contains the Flip video "Sorry".
